- Park, set the parking brake and turn off the engine.
- Figure out the downhill side: that's where the chocks go.
- Push a chock snugly against the tire, stepped face toward the wheel.
- When changing a tire, chock the wheel diagonally opposite the one you're jacking up.
- Before you drive off, pull them out by the handle and put them back in the trunk.
Why choose these wheel chocks
Your parking brake holds the car, but on a steep grade or with the car up on a jack, a second line of defense makes a real difference. That's why every repair shop chocks the wheels: chocks cost little, go in place in two seconds and take the guesswork out. Keeping a pair in the trunk gives you that same peace of mind at home, in the mountains or on a road trip.
These chocks are small but well thought out. The stepped profile conforms to the tire and holds it, the ridged base grips even smooth concrete in parking garages, and the rear handle lets you pull them out without moving the car. The high-strength engineering plastic won't rust and doesn't mind a damp trunk.
They're useful if you often park on hills, change your own tires, load and unload on a sloped driveway, or leave the car parked for long stretches. Toss them in your roadside emergency kit next to the jumper cables and flashlight, and forget about them until you need them.
Keep your car from rolling, even on a steep hill
Parking on a steep street, stopping on a sloped driveway or changing a flat on the shoulder: those are the moments when the parking brake alone doesn't quite give you peace of mind. These wheel chocks wedge against the tire and keep the car from rolling, taking load off the parking brake. The stepped face grips the tire, the ridged base won't slide on pavement, and a rear handle pulls them right out. You get a pair, each 6.1 × 3.5 × 3.9 in (15.5 × 9 × 10 cm).

The benefits at a glance
-
Stepped face that grips
The side facing the wheel is stepped, so the tire seats against the profile instead of pushing the chock away. -
Ridged anti-slip base
Ridges on the underside grab asphalt, concrete and garage ramps so the chock stays put. -
Handle for easy removal
A rear handle lets you pull the chock out even with the tire resting against it, without getting your hands dirty. -
High-strength engineering plastic
It takes the weight of the car without deforming and won't rust, even riding in the trunk all year. -
Compact: 6.1 × 3.5 × 3.9 in
Two small, light chocks that fit in the spare tire well, under a seat or in a corner of the trunk, so they're always in the car when you need them. -
For cars and SUVs
Made for passenger cars and SUVs. They're not meant for heavy-duty trucks.
